Working with Children Act Expands!

We are pleased to see the Queensland Government’s intentions to further strengthen protections for children, through the extension of professional categories & activities requiring ‘BLUE CARDS’.

The proposed amendments to the WORKING WITH CHILDREN ACT expands the scope of the blue card system to include additional categories of child-related work including COMMERCIAL PHOTOGRAPHY.

When passed, this reform will help to provide parents with greater assurance they are working with commercial photographers, including newborn photographers, who meet suitability checks to work with children and newborn babies.

For us at the Academy, and many within the industry, we feel any safeguards and checks and balances in this field can only be a good thing!
