Healthy indoor air quality of a Newborn Photography studio is essential for overall health and wellness of not only clients but staff as well.

Newborn babies require more care and attention when it comes to air quality, as dry air can be detrimental to a baby’s sensitive skin and indoor air pollutants like mould, dust, cigarette smoke, harmful chemicals and allergens like pollen, can all contribute to breathing problems.

The National Safety Council recommends the installation of an air purifier in order to protect babies from the side effects of air pollution exposure like “headaches, tiredness, dizziness, nausea, itchy nose and scratchy throat and more serious effects are asthma and other breathing disorders and cancer.”

We recommend that Newborn Photographers invest in a portable air purifier with both a pre-filter and a HEPA filter. Pre-filters are fairly standard and simply work to catch medium to larger airborne particles. Any of the smaller particles that evade the pre-filter get stuck on the HEPA filter. Hence, these types of products are helpful for removing dust, pollen, dust mites, animal dander, and more from the studio. Photographers who have a home based studio and/or also photograph animals would especially benefit from using a HEPA air purifier.
